Voice Description

At least twice a week, if I answer the phone at my office (due to our lack of receptionist), someone tells me they initially thought my voice was a recording. I am often complimented on the sound of my voice (random, but true). I can sound smooth and professional (after all, I am a former attorney) for presentations or warm and soothing for narration. I'm generally a warm, happy person and that is definitely reflected in my voice. I also once had a guy tell me my voice was "musical", but he was attempting to woo me, so I take that with a grain of salt.

I have never attempted an accent or dialect, and my impersonation/characterization attempts have been limited to entertaining small children (who I find are not particularly critical).

My Voice Experience

I have no voice over experience, unless you count an experience in fifth grade (back in the 80's) when I was chosen to narrate a slide show production, but I think that was based more on my reading ability than anything else. Honestly, I'm signing up for this on a whim to see if I get any bites because I think it would be interesting work. I do, however, think i would be good at it (see above references to random strangers complimenting me on my voice).

Additional Skills

I currently work in legal recruiting, which involves extensive cold calling, and have often been told by prospective clients and candidates that my voice is pleasant. Prior to becoming a recruiter, I was a practicing attorney. In addition, I possess excellent writing and editing skills, I make a mean key lime pie, I am a voracious reader, and I knit.
