Voice Description

My normal is voluble and kind sounding by nature. Many times I've been asked if I'm from the south or the midwestern part of the country which is funny because I've lived in New York all my life. My voice sticks out in a group because I have a bad habit of whistleing my S'es, but it hardly shows when I do a commercail read, and I think it gives it more character anyhow. I think of my voice as having a broad range;I'm willing to try to tackle any type of voice work given to me, be it hard sell, soft, or otherwise.

My Voice Experience

My first experience with voiceing was in High School. I read the morning annoucments, and on the holidays I would read storeys. One christmas I thought it would be nice if I read the Christmas Carol, and tried splitting it up each day for an intreval of a week. Bad idea. I would read every morning for a half an hour, and would read on into 1st period class. Suprisingly the Principal had no objections to this. Every day that week as I walked down a hallway I would get leered at by the teachers passing by, angry that I cut into their first 30 minutes of class time. The kids really did'nt seem to mind.

My Training

After graduating from High School I enrolled at a trade school in Albany N.Y. called "The New School Of Radio And Television", in September 2006. Here I learned all the fundamentals of radio; marketing,production,writting, editing, and my favorite- doing voice overs. I learned how to speak from my diaphragm, how to inflect, and how to sound for different commercail settings. In April 2007 I graduated with a certifcate of completion.

Since then I have interned at a handful of local radio stations in Hudson Valley New York. I interned at Fox 103.1 FM in Newburgh for 2 months or so last spring. I interned at 101.5 WPDH fm in Pokeepsie N.Y. last summer, where I was able to finally get a chance to do some voice overs for commercails. I'm currently interning for a radio station in Warwick N.Y. (WTBQ 1100 am/99.1 fm),and doing some commercails and editing for them.

My Studio Equipment

What I own is a Samson Audio USB Studio Condensor Microphone Model Number CO1U. The program I use to edit is called Audacity. The Quality of the audio is Excelent.

Additional Skills

I am a bibliophile. I love reading books, I read every day. I read out loud every night for practice. I also like act as a hobby, and I am studying theature improv at Orange County Community College. I also write, and currently I'm writting a scripted radio comedy show. My schedule is vey resilient right now, I go into the radio station for a few hours every other morning of the week, and for the rest of my time I am free.
