My Voice Experience

I have been a voice artist for almost 20 years starting when I was a teenager. I have recorded informational books for Revenue Canada for the visually impaired and Radio Ads for Elections Canada. In both cases the project required fast pace, clear and concise reading.

For over 10 years I have recorded a variety of voices for an audio book series to teach children in China to speak English. In this project the script required a slower pace, clear and concise reading.

I was hired to record a variety of voices for a video game called Huxley. For this project, the voice acting required a female computer voice with a soft unemotional delivery plus other characters where a high energy authoritative sound during war scenes. When recording voice for video games going "over the top" is a fine line. There is a special delivery needed for these types of projects and the experience was mind blowing. I really enjoyed voice acting for these directors.

My voice has been hired to record numerous professional presentations to be used online promoting products and services for marketing purposes. The sound required was approachable but mature and engaging.

I have also recorded many professional presentations for award shows and live events. These types of projects require clarity with energy but not over excited. Here it's important to know the audience and deliver a voice that will demand attention without taking the focus away from the award recipients and MC.

I have the ability to mimic any sound, dialect and special wording. In the projects teaching Chinese children to speak English, saying Chinese names and locations is important, in these cases a prerecorded sound byte was provided to ensure proper pronunciation.

My Training

I have owned and operated my own recording studio for five years in which I have participated as the talent and a director for many of our clients projects.

I haves studied voice acting with ACT Ottawa and have conducted work shops at my studio with a professional voice coach Thelma Farmer.

My training includes hosting a daytime talk show for Rogers Television.

I have also produced and hosted a "how to lifestyle" series entitled The Decorative Painter for four seasons.

I have a business degree in commerce, this does not relate to voice acting but I figured it couldn't hurt to let others know that I have a brain.

My Studio Equipment

I am co-owner of a professional recording studio (www.liverpoolcourt.com). We employ the best mics in the business (Neumann, B&K, AKG, etc), the most discrete mic-pre's (API, Neve), with gold-plated connectors, and acoustically designed recording rooms. We record primarily onto a Protools system, but I also use Logic, and Cubase if clients require these types of recording platforms.

We are capable of working with phone patch systems when the seeker prefers to direct the recording session.

Additional Skills

I have a clear understanding in what is required to complete all styles of productions with budget being a key component. I know how to record a voice to make it easier to edit and the importance of providing a variety of styles because projects can change so it's best to have many choices just in case. This saves time which in turn saves money.

Having years of experience as a voice talent and as a director allows me to quickly comprehend what producers/clients want and need for their projects.

When a quick turnaround is required owning a recording studio (Liverpool Court Studios) can provide fast turnarounds delivered in all formats.

Pacing and timing is very important. When a project needs the dialogue to be recorded in a specific amount of time I have successfully provided this type of talent.
