I voiced my 1st radio commercial when I was 8yrs old, and my fascination began right then. I started creating what I considered to be own radio stations using a boom box and blank cassette tapes. I would speak in one voice for the DJ, and many different voices during the "commercial breaks". For some of my little commercials, I would recite ads that I had heard on television or the radio. However, most of them were for imaginary products that I created just to make my radio show interesting. I even had pretend on-air contests for ridiculous prizes and I would often bring my younger siblings in to be the callers/winners. If they didn't sound excited enough, we would do as many takes as necessary to get the sound I was going for!
As a result, my parents got me involved in theater right away, where I learned all about character development as well as proper enunciation so that I could be clearly understood. I remained active in local theater well into adulthood. In 2006, I took a job as an account executive at Cumulus Broadcasting in Albany, GA where I still work part-time. I find much joy in my work, not in the negotiation of a sale, but in the creative process of developing the advertisements. I also do many of the live remote broadcasts for this cluster of stations. I now have a complete studio in my home, where I write and produce most of the radio spots for my clients.
I work with MXL and Shure condensor microphones run through an FET pre-amp and use a Behringer 16 channel mixing board. Everything is recorded on a professional Windows XP Dual P4 workstation using applications such as Adobe Audition, Soundbooth, Cool Edit Pro, Sony Acid Pro and Abelton. Voice tracks can be delivered in any conventional format desired.
