My Voice Experience
"Hello, Kit Grindstaff speaking."
The voice at the end of the phone was warm, reassuring. Sort of sexy too. And that accent...What was it? English? Australian?
"I could listen to you for hours!" I blurted, feeling instantly like an idiot. After all, I was calling her for hypnotherapy, not to audition for HotVox. But wait...That new commercial for Colaco that needed a British female voice; "warm...sultry..." Ah, but could she do fun?
"Of course I can," she chirruped, before I'd even asked the question. How did she know?
Was she my alter-ego? Was I hers? If so, how many did she have? I had to know.
My Training
--"Citizen, Citizen, Citizen watches..." (That was a while ago, but made quite a mark).
-- In my years writing jingles, I did other occasional VOs, and produced others (e.g. "Stu-Stu-Studio Line, from L'Oréal")
-- Plus, I've been a professional song writer for years, producing and recording my own demos, and have a great ear for rhythm.
My Studio Equipment
--ProTools (LE version), used on Intel Mac.
--Neumann TLM 103
-- AKG 414
-- AT 4041
-- Avalon Vt737 Preamp
-- frequently recording my own vocals and/or others',for song demos
-- produce my own music demos using virtual sounds (MOTU pianos, RMX, etc) as well as analogue (various Roland rack-mounted instruments, e.g. XP 3080)
Additional Skills
My entire career has been in music; first, as a recording artiste in my native England; then as a song writer and, for several years from the late 80's to late 90's, jingle writer for various New York houses.
I'm also a certified hypnotherapist (yes, it's true...) and have often been told how trustworthy my voice sounds.
