Voice Description

My natural speaking voice is deep and can be a little gravelly. I've been told it is warm and can be quite sexy ! I have a pretty good range , though my natural tendency is in the baritone/bass area. I am a North American English speaker, from the south, but can speak either with or without a Texas accent. I've always enjoyed doing voices, just for fun, and have a natural aptitude for imitations and accents. I can do just about any American regional accent, as well most British, Irish and Scottish dialects. Imitations that I can do really well- Elvis, football announcer Keith Jackson, Sylvester Stallone, Mr. T, Bullwinkle Moose, Hank Hill and his dad Cotton Hill, Howard Cosell, Apu from the Simpsons, Quick-Draw Mcgraw and his sidekick El Cabonger,Fat Albert and his gang, many others, sometimes I don't even know I can do a voice until someone ask me to !

My Voice Experience

I've been dabbling with voice over work for several years now and would like to become more seriously involved with it , make it a bigger percentage of my income. My first voice over job was in 1999, for a small company's ant killer called X-ecutor for which I was paid $40 cash! In 2000 I did voicemail greetings and on hold messaging for Galactic Group , a now. In 2000 and 2001 I was voice over talent in a project that was at the time called Series Archer. I was the lead voice over artist, and main voice character Argus, a mysterious villain-type with an Educated British accent on top of his deep gravelly voice. You can still hear Argus on the web at a site called ShadowforceArcher.com. The story is background for a role playing game, and the format for the voice acting was based on old radio serial programs, done in installments. In 2003, I got my first , and so far only TV voice over job, for a stud horse named "Smartest-chic olena" on the Outdoors Network. I'm currently involved in a project for an orthopedic/prosthesis company, doing the voice over work on their new training video.

My Training

My profesional training was an 8 week course on voice acting taught by Lanie Frasier. She taught us how to manipulate our voices, use different tones and qualities and colors of our voices, as well as the technical aspects of voice over and voice acting. That was in 1998, and I've been doing voice over jobs off and on since then. I really have been training myself for this most of my life without knowing it. I've always imitated cartoon voices and famous people since I was a kid, it just took until adulthood before I realized people got paid for that! Other pertinent education and experience includes studying journalism and communications at Texas Tech University from 1986- 1989, no degree. I also have been employed almost exclusively in telemarketing and/or customer service since 1998 , honing my voice over the phone with all kinds of people all over the country.

Additional Skills

I am very comfortable dealing with people , both over the phone and in person. I have been working in telemarketing and or customer service since 1998, and am currently running the call center for a web site development company.
Other interest include history of all types, but especially U.S. history and military history. I'm a big fan of all major sports,so much so I've been known to turn down the sound of baseball games and do my own play by play and color commentary, and in spite of that, I'm still married ! I love doing voice over work, I have yet to not have a great time when recording any voiceover ! I feel my sense of humor and easy -going nature go well with this type of work- It's important to be able to have fun and still be able to focus and get the work done !
