My Voice Experience

While I was at Columbia getting my MFA in theater, I had the opportunity to do some voiceover work, and work with people who had been successful voiceover artists. I found that it was not unlike the work that I was training to do onstage in front of an audience. I worked with Kristin Linklater, a foremost scholar in Shakespearean texts, and I found that a lot of the work that we do with a Shakespearean text is the work that I do when I am met with a new text. Finding the muscularity of the action while still maintaining the sense of urgency and thru-line is exactly the goal with Shakespeare and beyond, and I believe its the key to making any text exciting- both for me and the listener.

My Training

I have been a performer and opera singer for more than a decade. I have had formal opera training, and find that the lessons I have learned through training also apply here. I am also currently a working actor in New York, as well as a model, and writer and find that these industries help to contribute to my general knowledge of audience aesthetic and attention span.

I think my undergraduate English Degree from UNC-Chapel Hill is helpful, and I know that I love a good book! I also spend my extra time hiking and watching college basketball- GO HEELS! I love all text, and I spend a lot of my time unlocking the secret of any text, finding how to make it pop, and I would love to be able to do that with yours.
