My Voice Experience

Over the past 25 years I have worked in west coast radio markets (San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles) as a Creative Director, Copy Writer, Voice Talent and Air Personality. I have written, recorded and produced thousands of commercials for broadcast on radio and TV around the U.S. I am currently Creative Director for 6 radio stations in Santa Barbara California and do voice overs and production for Kelly Bridges Productions.

My Training

I majored in Broadcasting Arts and Mass Communications in college but most of my training started by working as an intern at San Francisco radio stations. I worked with major market talent and teachers from broadcasting schools around the bay area. Since then I've been a traffic reporter, news anchor, air personality, voice over announcer, imaging voice over talent, broadcast school teacher and head of several creative departments at radio stations. I've worked in just about every format.
I have been nominated for over 35 Soundie awards for my voice and production. In 2001 I won 2 awards for my commercial writing which was published in a book on creative writing techniques by Roy Williams.

My Studio Equipment

I have 2 production studios on the central coast.
I use Pro Tools (MAC) 7.0 in both of my studios and operate most multi-track boards. I also use Adobe Audition on PC. I have an ISDN line in one of my studios and I can send links of longer sessions via e-mail as well as most audio file formats.

Additional Skills

Most clients and account executives say I'm very easy to work with and I often make their commercial ads sound better than they could have imagined. My experience makes it easy for me to see possible ways to perfect most projects. While many voice over announcers have excellent voices, I have learned that it's much more useful to be more than just another pretty voice.
Putting thought and sincerity behind every voice over enables people to listen in a way that is more comprehensible. And, of course, the more a person understands, the more likely they will come away with a positive experience which may very often lead to the purchase of a product or service.
