My Voice Experience

It was only last year when our school decided to perform "The Wizard of Oz". I was hoping for a good role, but alas, ended up as an extra. I had received main roles before, but much to my chagrin, the roles were "too young for me". What my drama teachers had really meant was that the roles were too young for my voice. In high school, I was forever branded as the girl who sounded like a mom. So from then on, all my solo pieces involved either a mother who had lost a child or a mother who never could have children. It was frustrating at first, never getting to be the leading lady if she was under thirty, but eventually I got used to it. After all, there could be a lot worse things to have my voice compared to.

My Training

I've taken several years of drama, receiving a National Forensics award last year. I have been in local plays and church dramas nearly every year for about ten years. I've also taken theatre production classes every year throughout high school.
