Voice Description
Rich, energetic, and friendly, I can imitate a variety of different ages and ethnicities while maintaining the appropriate mood. My Voice Experience
On May 7, 1988, the doctor approached my mother with a troubled spirit. "Mrs. Lieder," he said apprehensively, "I'm afraid I have some difficult news." My mother's eyes grew wide as she stammered, "Wha-what is it, Doctor? I-is my baby alright?" "She's fine," he winced, "although, I'm afraid we've found something." My mother clutched at her heart. "Your daughter has inherited a rare gene," the doctor continued, "which catalyzes a dedicated affinity for the arts, erratic attention-seeking episodes--usually occurring at the dinner table and involving a recitation of the latest Disney movie, and an uncanny ability to imitate whatever she hears or sees." "Oh, my!" my mother cried, "What is this called?" The doctor heaved a heavy sigh, "Mrs. Lieder, it's the Performance Gene."
Yes. It is all too true. Ever since I was a little girl, I have had an inseparable relationship with performance. Thus, it is no surprise to me when a friend or family member says something along the lines of, "Katie, do your Judy Garland impression!"
During my high school years, I spent much of my fall semesters successfully taking lead roles in the school play. More recently, I discovered a love for radio and voice over through my broadcast classes at Oakland University (Go Grizzlies!).
I took some production classes and even had an on-campus radio talk show, which I hosted, wrote, and produced. But it wasn't until my dear friend urged me to participate in a local audition that I became serious about a voice over career.
After three months of auditioning, I received my first job in October of 2008 for a Kentucky Fried Chicken spot, advertised at the Colt's Stadium in Indianapolis (see Demos). I can still remember the excitement I felt as I entered Heaven, or, the production studio. What was even more exciting was receiving another call soon afterward, "You done did it again, Kid!" and returning to the studio in November 2008 to record a Jet's Pizza radio spot (see demos).
Since then, I have consistently attended local auditions in hopes of furthering my career. So, whether you're shopping for voice talent or have mistakenly typed "Katie Lieder" while searching for "Katy Lied," I leave you with one final message: Enjoy the show!
