Voice Description
For every scenario in life there is a voice which characterizes its essence. I can create almost any impression you need...whether it be exciting and full of suspense, heart wrenching, silly and non-sensical, or business-like, professional, straight to the point. My native dialect comes from Western New York, USA. I specify that region, because there are accents and idiosyncrasies found in the spoken work throughout all of the US, even throughout one state such as New York. However, having traveled all over my nation, I have learned to speak fluently in almost all of its dialects...southern, western, mid-western, New Englander, even the distinct "New Yawk City" accent. I can also speak in a convincing British (standard, the generic accent you hear on tv) accent, as well as Aussie, Eastern European, French, and comical Hispanic.

My Voice Experience
I remember the look on my new step-mother's face as she watched my father and I prepare dinner together, role playing as Slave and Slave Massa as we chopped and mixed and sauteed. She was amused at our game, and impressed by my nine year old ability to produce effective accents and dialects. I ALSO remember the look on her face a year later when our priest visited, busting me for frequenting the confessional, offering up fake confessions using a myriad of accents and voices. When he left, she asked what I had to say for myself. I shrugged and answered, "I must be pretty good! It took him a month to realize it was me!" Exasperated, she shook her head and proclaimed, "That's it! You're taking theater lessons! You have altogether too much creative energy!!" My step-mother's insight into my talents and interests (as well as her (luckily for me) sense of humor) led to the fostering of my love for performing, entertaining, and creating. I spent most of my youth on stage, both in amateur and professional productions. Breaking away from it during college and into my twenties, I have found my way back on stage via singing in an original band, writing and recording music my husband and I write.
My Training
Ok, my college degree has nothing to do with voice over acting. I was convinced to follow the boring route, majoring in Psychology and, later, education (I am an English Language Arts teacher). But, as a writer, singer, and actor everyday before my students (believe me, I work in an Urban environment and it takes theatrical miracles to capture and maintain their attention!), life itself has given me enough experience to give a voice to every occasion!

Additional Skills
I sing, and have been compared to a broad range of known artists, including Natalie Merchant, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks and the crazy girl in the Dixie Chicks. I write, creatively, analytically, sarcastically, emotionally. Every professor I ever had told me I needed to write a book. And I will, someday. I read. And when I say read I don't mean just reading. I live through text. I connect with characters on a level at which they become part of my social network. I KNOW them, feel them, and can predict their every move before I finish the story. Knowing characters in this way helps to add authenticity in creating their voices and audible personalities.
