My Voice Experience

Karen has recorded over thirty unabridged audiobooks for Books-on-Tape, Random House, Tantor Media, Penguin Audio and Listening Library and won AudioFile's Earphones Award. She is equally at home with narration and dialogue. She is especially adept with books set in the North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky, where she grew up, as well as Boston and New York where she's lived as an adult.

For the past two years she has been the voice of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of NC's IVR system, recording all their on hold messages as well as an intricate interactive phone system.

Karen has been a professional actress for over twenty years and her work in improvisation and on stage gives her a great deal of adaptability.

My Training

MFA in Acting, Brandeis University
BA in Theatre, Cornell University

Extensive study in voice production with Kristin Linklater, Marya Lowry, Roy Hart Theatre. Voice over workshops with Rick Zieff in Los Angeles and Maura Tighe in Boston.

My Studio Equipment

In my home studio I am able to record simple voice-over and deliver in an mp3 format. I have access to a professional studio which can provide a phone patch, director, engineer and editing (including adding music and sound effects) and can deliver in almost any format, including mp3, WAV and FTP.

Additional Skills

Teaches voice production privately and has been on the faculty as a voice and acting teacher at Brandeis University and Emerson College in Boston.
