My Training

Early on, she studied at the prestigious American Conservatory Theatre and Jean Shelton Actor's Lab in San Franciso. There were also innumerable commercial and film acting workshops. After awhile, it got to be an on-the-job training deal. For many years, Karen performed in many theatre productions, on camera in television, commercials and industrial films... and of course, voiceover as well.

Later (and after 8 years of training!), she became one of a handful of voice coaches certified by Joan Kenley, PhD., author of "Voice Power, a Breakthrough Method to Enhance Your Speaking Voice".

As a television broadcast voice/talent coach, Karen has guided reporters and anchors in their voice, performance and delivery from the local affiliate to network level.

My Studio Equipment

The signal's gotta be strong. Beefy. Able to stand up and shine through compression or whatever else you put it through. Collaborating with feature film sound design pros has us working through a Neumann U89, Avalon Vt-737, Teletronix LA2A, Apogee Rosetta200 recording chain that's warm, strong and stellar with my voice. You can have your audio delivered via ISDN (Telos Zephyr Xstream), or the phone patch/FTP option.
Worldwide access, ISDN recording, FTP delivery, versatile, professional voiceovers. Aaaahhh, sounds like home.

Additional Skills

In the voice over realm: editing

Besides voice coaching for television news broadcasters, Karen's taught just about everything she's accomplished so far: figure skating, horse training and riding, dance, acting, voice over, skiing. So the ability to communicate complex information in a real and down-to-earth way is second nature to her.
