At the university, I was educated and trained to be a college or a high-school teacher teaching English. In 1988, I became an English teacher of my mother school. Since then I have been teaching both English and Chinese at many schools in China, the UK and the USA. I teach English to Chinese and Chinese to non-Chinese speakers. Equipped with the knowledge and the abilities, I have been using my voice for a long time, such as recording, presentation, performances and lecturing to attract, entertain and educate my audience. I can be very serious like a TV or radio broadcaster; I can also be very soft like a baby-talking nanny. A good teacher must be very flexible to fit in various situations.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

As a native Chinese, my mother tongue is Mandarin. As a professional teacher, I was trained and required to speak accurate mandarin with accurate pronunciations. Within the roof of Mandarin, there are many local accents. Of those accents, I can speak Beijing accent, Hebei accent, and Shanxi Accent. My Cantonese dialect is OK but not fluent.

My Voice Experience

For this part, I’d like to list the relevant jobs I did with my voices:
1. At the college when I was a student in Taiyuan Teacher’s College in China, I recorded my voice for the English Department Morning Broadcast to the students.
2. At Atlanta Language Institute of the USA, I recorded and video-taped my voices for my students.
3. As a professional interpreter in Atlanta, I provide my voice services for Asian American Language Services for various jobs, such as court, immigration jail, and tour to China.
