Voice Description

I have a flexible voice and my spoken skills were developed over twenty years working on the telephone. I am well educated and although RP is within my vocal capability, would prefer to think more downbeat. However, being from London this can often be helpful. Adaptable would be a fair description.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I can do relatively good generic versions of quite a few regional accents,eg Scottish,Tyneside,Liverpool,Scouser, Birmingham,South London,West Coutry,Yorkshire,Ireland North and South, Wales and Posh etc., not many dialects but am always practising and trying to copy voice characterisations.

My Voice Experience

Customer service announcer, and recordings for talking magazines are the major extent of my experience so far, except to say that when I left Sainsbury's one of my ex colleagues was heard to say "...not the guy with the really cool voice?" And just get so many people tell me this is what I should be doing that it gets harder to ignore. Anything else you need to know, just ask me.

My Training

Sevenoaks Prep school, Cranbrook School, Middlesex Polytechnic. Associated Board Piano gd.6 and Violin gd.8, former chorister and member of a choral society. Have done backing vocals for various bands having been a drummer both as an amateur and professionally for over thirty years. Am at home in studios both behind a drum kit or a microphone. I am also a keen amateur poet and hope to be reading in public in the near future, but for fun only.

I have a fair knowledge of studio equipment, but am not an engineer.

Additional Skills

Many years of extensive vocal experience coupled with my career as a musician with a good ear. Good writing and excellent communication skills. I have also had voice and diction coaching which has helped overall confidence in my abilities for the future.
