Voice Description

My voice is upbeat, welcoming, and reassuring. It is a youthful voice yet smart and clear at the same time. People have told me they call just to hear my voice. It has a calming quality that is a great fit for telephone menus, corporate directories and voicemail systems.

My voice is a good fit for podcasts, audio books and industrials or narration. An avid reader with teaching experience, I understand how to use my voice, inflection, tone and pitch to make a point and engage the listener. I am genuinely interested and engaged in the copy, and it comes across in my work.

Raised in Texas and Oklahoma, my voice can have a quality of being a bit southwestern or a have a little drawl. The drawl is not always present, but it can come out when requested.

My Voice Experience

My day job is as an assistant at a studio. I receive comments all the time about my voice, my phone presence, and my ability to talk to people about complex technical and business issues in a sweet and calming way. People have told me that they would do anything I ask once I start talking.

I did voice over for friends in college, working on films. I have done narrations for corporate and not-for-profit board presentations. My business sense and industry savvy means that I understand what I am reading, and read it in a way that makes a great deal of sense to the listener. Most of my work has been pro bono or deeply discounted, as I have a day job I do voice over because I enjoy it. I only recently began thinking of voiceovers as career, but I am already gaining experience, and I feel like I am making a difference for small business owners, independent filmmakers and aspiring entrepreneurs.

My Training

I have taken several workshops and classes for voice talent. I enjoy taking the classes, meeting people, and developing my craft, so the classes are fun for me. I do feel like voice over comes fairly naturally to me, and my voice exudes that confidence. I continue to take classes, and I feel I learn a great deal from each job and each assignment.

My undergraduate degree is in film and video, so I understand the role of voiceover artists and voice services in the entertainment industry and the marketplace at large.
