Voice Description

I am a talented children's book reader. I change voices for each character in the story and use my own mellow voice to read the narrator portions of the story. I am able to set the mood and the tone of each passage as I read i.e. excitement, fear, happiness, sadness.
I also have a professional voice which I use for my business contacts and voicemail messages.

My Voice Experience

Well, I am a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who has spent the last 20 years reading to children whenever I can. I work at a Borders Book Store and have read many times during story hour. I always have a captive audience during story hour! Other employees have heard me read and told me they wish they could stay and listen to the entire story-time.
I have also done voicemail greetings for a small family owned business.

My Training

I have had no formal education yet. I am a small (very intellegent!) voice trying to be heard in a big world of recorded voices and I will follow the direction of any and all who would like to hire me.

Additional Skills

Because I have spent the last five years ordering books for a Borders Book Store, I speak to authors, publishers, wareshouses, freight companies, corporate accounts and customers daily. I usually must leave an initial voicemail recording when contacting these individuals and have been told frequently that my voice has a pleasant and professional quality.
My job also requires me to make in-store public announcements.
A somewhat related skill is that I created voicemail recording scripts for the employees at our store. These scripts are used when a customer's special order has arrived and is ready for pick-up at our store. Fequently the message is left on the customer's voicemail.
