In addition to years in radio, TV/Web video and as a singer, she's also gone to great lengths to make clients happy while in advertising client management and as a freelance travel writer. And, in addition to studying under Joyce and Byrne Piven at their famed Piven Theater, she recently wrapped a play at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre.

My Training

With a BS in broadcast-journalism from a top university, Josey Miller--a Piven Theater acting conservatory alum--honed her business sense as a client management coordinator for McCann-Erickson advertising. In 2009, the NYC resident studied on-camera and vocal technique with Nancy Reardon and received in-the-booth voiceover training under VO veteran and coach Alice Elliott.

Josey is also a staple on the Greenwich Village music scene: The granddaughter of an opera singer, she was classically trained in voice under Dr. Sarah Stedman of Northwestern University. Josey sang with rock bands and musical theatre troupes in college and then at a Chicagoland jazz piano bar post-graduation before relocating temporarily to San Diego. There she performed solo and with a band at well-known local clubs and coffee shops and started writing music inspired by Joni Mitchell, Patty Griffin and Jonatha Brooke. She now plays various venues around NYC, such as the Bitter End, the Living Room, the Red Lion, the Village Lantern and more. By combining emotive vocals and poetic lyrics, Josey has her own style of bluesy modern folk. She also studied the American composers of cabaret and jazz through Mannes Music College of The New School.
