Joseph Gaines brings a wealth of professional performing experience to voiceover work. An opera singer and linguist by trade, he is a fierce actor on stage and in the studio, and has a broad spectrum of voice, theater, and language talents from which to draw.

A highly versatile and increasingly sought-after artist in the worlds of opera and classical music, this award-winning performer has appeared with a number of America's finest performing arts organizations, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Glimmerglass Opera, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Indianapolis Opera, Sarasota Opera, Central City Opera, and more. Classically trained in Europe and the United States, he can be heard on commercially available recordings of works by George Friedrich Handel and Allesandro Scarlatti.

A character-role specialist in opera, he offers a wide variety of accents in several languages, which range from tender to thrilling, young to old, loveable to fierce.

A native of Houston, Texas, he is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and travels worldwide to perform.

My Training

Fluent in written and spoken German, his language training includes living in Germany under a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Fellowship; while there he appeared in numerous live performances, and was producer/interviewer/translator of a German-language documentary about the lives of artists in the former Communist East Germany.
