You want to grab their attention and sell your idea, product and service within a set period of time. Through the magic of editing and the talent's ability to use his/her voice in a creative way requires experience, the 'know how' and organized preparation.
Having worked in radio, I've always kept the listening audience in mind. Radio personality means exactly that, 'personality'. Aside from informing your listening audience, there's an element of entertainment and humor involved to appeal to listeners of all ages. Having worked in market research as well, clients want to know if their products and services are successfully reaching out to YOU the consumer through effective advertising.
