Voice Description

I have a wide range of voice descriptions. My normal voice is considered by many to be deep and soothing. I can do alterations to my voice to mimic cartoon characters like most of the characters on the Simpsons, and Scooby Doo. I can also do accents like Slovakian or Russian, Southern US accents, North Midwest (like from the movie Fargo) and East Indian. Others have also said I have a great presentation voice as well that is very emphatic and expressive.

My Voice Experience

I first realized I had a tallent in public speaking in Kindergarten. My teacher made me the M.C. of the kindergarten play because I could read at a 2nd grade level in Kindergarten.

I took some speech classes in middle school and high school and really enjoyed being in front of people. I also was the frontman in a rock band in high school and just loved being in the spotlight.

After that I kind of went into obscuity until I was 24. I decided to go to school for radio and T.V. broadcasting. I wanted to be a sports announcer. Immediately after school I landed a job out in Montana at KPRK in Livingston as their local sports announcer and midday DJ. I worked there a year and did anything that was asked of me as far as programming. I learned how to speak and write commercial scripts and news/sports scripts. After Montana I worked at KWAY in Waverly, IA for roughly 6 months and got let go due to a program change. I was going to go back to radio eventually but I found that settling down and seeing kids grow up is much more rewarding.

Since radio I've gotten really good at selling. I still use my voice tallents to express how great my products are as I sell over the phone. I consider myself even more of a student of how to speak with expression and conviction because I need to for job success.
