My Voice Experience

My voicework career began when I was reading a bedtime story to my son one night. I have always used different voices for all the characters in the books we read. And I am not just talking about short children's books, but entire series of novels, such as Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia. We also listen to books on tape every night and my son said to me, "Mom, you should record a story tape. You do better voices than they do". Of course, this was my son talking, but it got me thinking,"Hmmm, I really could do a story tape". So, since I had access to top quality recording equipment, I started recording short stories, and soon I had requests to record poems and voiceovers for commercials and informational videos. A friend recommended checking out Voice123 and here I am today.
Some of my previous jobs include the following:
Hart Soapstone, 2007
-Performed commercial voice content for soapstone countertop and sink company based in Vermont.

Space Dub Vibrations, 2000
Performed original poem "Written in Stone" for techno-music DVD, "Alpha Code", which was featured in the "Videa" Music and Video Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

Escape From Babylon, 2007
Wrote and performed introduction to website featuring handmade jewelry, based in Colorado Springs, CO

Performing musician 1974-2007
Record and perform original music.

My Training

My voice experience starts at a very early age. I first started formal training in piano at age 6 and loved to play and sing tunes from musicals such as Annie, Fame and Grease as well as tunes by then popular artists such as The Carpenters, Barry Manilow, Captain and Tenille and Donny and Marie . I was involved in choir, band and jazz band throughout my school years and sang or played many solos. I recieved formal training in classical piano, jazz piano, flute and voice.
In college, I took voice classes, Electronic music recording, guitar, African drumming, music composition and of course, Speech.
I began doing professional voicework in 2000 through the recommendations of friends and family.
