I have performed dozens of concerts in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
In March 2003, I first performed in the Chaliapin Museum in Moscow and was was asked to become a member of the Russian “Ensemble Kant”.
In 2004 I sang “Spirituals” in the American Church in Paris with Touve Ratovandrahety swinging at the piano.
Besides frequent concerts in Paris I also sang in London, Palermo, Sao-Paolo, Salzburg, Fontainebleau and New York.
The “ SINGING PROFESSOR ”
Music:
Jonathan Story stopped singing at the age of 16, when he won a singing prize at Eton College, GB. For the next 45 years, he pursued an academic career, teaching and humming.
In 2001, his wife Heidi, a sculptor, launched a choir linked to the world famous business school INSEAD, in Fontainebleau, France, where upon Prof. Story started to train his deep bass-voice under the magic of Laure-Marie Meyer, Choirmaster of Art-Story.
With the help of Maya Pushkina, his Russian voice teacher, he started to sing Russian folksongs and Russian Opera music.
Following his academic talks on world politics and markets, Prof Story is frequently asked to give a musical performance, He specialises in Russian music, Spirituals, Oratorio and Opera.
Jonathan Story
is also a specialist on world business, politics and markets, for the last few years he has worked on China’s emergence and its implications for international business. He also gives talks on many aspects of global affairs.
Academic:
Jonathan Story is Emeritus Professor of International Political Economy at INSEAD, and holds the Marusi Chair of Global Business at The Lally School of Management, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to joining INSEAD in 1974, he worked in Brussels and Washington, where he obtained his PhD from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
A new version of his “China: The Race to Market” (FT/Pearsons, 2003) is forthcoming in 2009, as well a book on what China’s transformation means for managers operating in such as fast-moving environment. A film
documentary version of the content is available. Other books include The Frontiers of Fortune, (Pitman’s, 1999), which is about corporate strategy in the world economy; and The Political Economy of Financial Integration in
Europe : The Battle of the Systems,(MIT Press, 1998) on monetary union and financial markets in the EU, and co-authored with Ingo Walter of NYU. These three books deal with the transformation of Europe, China and the
world, and what that spells for business. Besides authoring books, he has contributed numerous chapters in books and articles in professional journals. He is a regular contributor to newspapers.
At the INSEAD campus, he has taught European and world politics, markets, and business in the various MBA, PhD programs. He has taught on INSEAD’s flagship Advanced Management Programme for the last three decades, as well as on other Executive Development and Company Specific
courses. Jonathan Story works with governments, international organisations and multinational corporations.
He is married with four children. Besides English, he is fluent in French, German, Spanish, Italian, reads Portuguese and is learning Russian, and also Chinese. He has a bass voice, and sings professionally.
