Voice Description

My natural speaking voice is fairly deep, with a warm resonant undertone. Over a decade of in person and phone work on high end IT issues has helped be develop a sincere, warm and trustworthy verbal presentation appropriate for narrative and documentary work. I have a goofy flexibility with mid and high register voices that for some reason I never lost growing up, which is great for cartoons and advertisements. As a lifelong musician, I also take direction well and possess strong creative and collaborative tendencies. I use cadence, tone and color in my everyday speech as an element of communication, and it is apparent on tape.

My Training

I received a BA from Sarah Lawrence College where I studied music and economics and am pursuing an MS from Columbia University, which uses the dynamics of your voice to get your academic point across more than one might think. I have a friend who runs a Grammy award winning voice over studio in New York who has been kind enough to assist me with some small pieces of work to get me started. I have also been a journalist/newspaper editor and have a strong understanding (and appreciation for) good, clean copy. As a musician (electric bass, guitar) I am extremely comfortable in any studio situation and know the ropes of the other side of the glass as well.

My Studio Equipment

My personal gear includes an MXL condenser mic and a Dell XPS running Sound Forge and Vegas. I use an isolating-closet or a small room depending on the purpose. The studio I have access to book is a top notch award winning voice over studio in Manhattan. It is NOT free however, I pay like everyone else.
