My voiceover experience started in Radio Broadcasting. The first utility use for it was announcing on a pirate radio station I built which operated from my bedroom as a young teen. Shortly after the FCC raided the premises and at age 17, I joined the first legitimate radio station in my career, WGGG, Gainesville, Fl. Highlights include: The first Music Dir position at WDAT, Daytona Beach, just after turning 18. The first Program Dir and Morning host position came 1 year later at WWKE, Ocala-Silver Springs, Fl. On air positions have been mostly morning or afternoon drive and I've been on the air in 8 out of the top 10 US markets, including all of the top 5. Nominated for a Marconi award for Major Market Air Personality Of The Year by my employer, Entercom Communications. I've done countless ad endorsement commercials for clients such as GM, Ford, Daimler-Chrysler, LA Weight Loss, Johnsonville Foods, Johnson and Johnson and the State of Louisiana Tourism Board (after Katrina) which was deemed best in the Company at Entercom Communications. I have voiced whole prerecorded radio shows for AM/FM, inc. (now Clear Channel) terrestrially and Radio Central on the web. Plus character voices and announcing for Radio Disney within the last 5 years. I love to voice and am a work-horse with a complete home studio.
I've had no formal education for broadcasting or speaking whatsoever. I got into the voice business with a High School education and a dream. Announcing is the only thing I've ever wanted to do and has been the primary focus of life. I give an immense amount of credit for my success to the people around me early on who took the time to teach.
Audio-Technica 4033A condenser mic, Symetrix 528E mic processor, Mackie 1402-VLZ Pro mix board, DBX 266XL compressor/expander, Creative Soundblaster card, P-4 machine. Incidentals include Sony Antrack DSP Minidisc recorder/player, audio router/amp head and an Optimus Graphic EQ with built in spectral display. I designed and wired the studio myself.
I'm a self-taught audio and RF communications engineer, a dad, a truth seeker, particle physics student (have you heard about String Theory yet?!), Psychology junkie, mentor/teacher, Ham Radio Operator (you usually hear abt us during disasters) a very quick learner and I try to see all things in a creative context.
