My Voice Experience
My day job is in the I.T. field. During the spring of 2010 I was asked by our I.T. training coordinator to write a script for an internal online training video on the PC backup application that I managed. After putting in a considerable amount of effort writing the copy, I felt that I should lend my voice to the project since I knew the subject matter very well.
After completing the project, certain departmental directors felt that my delivery was beyond what they expected and that my voice would be suitable for other training videos. It was then that I decided to investigate the voice over profession and enrolled in Edge Studio's training program. I have since been asked to record two more training videos for my day job, with more projects on the way.
My Training
The Career Training & Voice Over Demo Recording Program at Edge Studio in NYC from August 2010 - January 2011.
The curriculum included teleconferences which covered Home Studio/recording techniques, Marketing, Money and Business. Also, in-person workshops that went over different delivery techniques, auditioning scenarios, and acting exercises. Most of my training was under the guidance of an assigned industry professional who provided one-on-one coaching sessions focusing on editing copy, performance, and developing my own style. The final step of the program was the preparation and recording of my demo which took place in January of 2011. I still attend teleconferences when time permits and try to stay abreast of the advancements in the industry through reading articles, visiting voice-over related websites, and seeking membership on internet based social groups and forums.
My Studio Equipment
My home studio consists of:
Zoom R24 digital multi-track recorder
Rode NT1-A microphones, Shure SM57 microphones
Audacity software for editing voice tracks
I will be working on building an audio library for background music and sound effects.

I am also a hobbyist musician/recording engineer. I have recorded live jam sessions for a friend's band and live concerts of my wife's high school orchestra class.
