Voice Description
English is my first language and mother tongue. I can produce accents varying from heavy to light in Mid-Atlantic, Southern and Western American as well as British and Australian dialects.
My abilities of inflection range from joyous, compassionate, conciliatory, caring, soothing, and authoritarian, over inviting, conspiratorial and neutral to dejected, irate, despondent, indignant, creepy, and just plain gruff.
My delivery can vary from quick and light, over warm and inviting, to ponderous and dark. Although bass by nature, I can modulate my voice to a sprightly tenor or falsetto.
My second language is German (lots of rolled Rs), which I speak, read and write fluently. My abilities of inflection in German mirror those listed above for English. In German, I can produce accents from Saxony, Bavaria and Upper Franconia, as well as speak Hochdeutsch, or High-German.

My Voice Experience
I was introduced to voice acting during my three years working in the Entertainment department at Upper Deck Trading Card Company in San Diego, CA.
Tapped to record the emergency alarm announcement and voice over portions of the company's on hold & voicemail systems, I was slightly shocked to hear that I would be recording the messages in Spanish as well. While my knowledge of Spanish is rudimentary, my pronunciation is, thanks to five years of Latin in high school and a few trips to TJ, passable, and everything turned out great.
My Training
The great majority of my voice talent training comes from musical activities.
My first solo was at age 10, sang alone in the back of a packed Christmas church. In high school in Germany, I sang in the school choir and was the bass anchor in the a Capella group.
During my four years at Gettysburg college, I was a founding member of and four year participant in the "4 Scores" a capella group. In addition, I was lead bass and occasionally tenor in the College's ensemble choir.
To round things out, I acted in four separate plays, two of which dealt with Nazi concentration camps, for which I performed in my best German accent.

Additional Skills
Growing up in Germany as an American 13 year old with no initial knowledge of the language, I watched a LOT of movies over and over again. Having eventually memorized a couple dozen movies, I began talking along with the actors, mimicking their accents and paying close attention to inflection and tone.
This practice continues to this day, and I still enjoy nailing a tricky bit of dialog, if only for bragging rights.
During my aforementioned time at Upper Deck Company, I took over the "MC" function at conventions, announcing events, introducing guests, and drumming up interest in signings for hours at a time.
My favorite memories of those conventions include the somewhat delirious state that follows hours of straight talking, when you start improvising for the passing crowd, calling out the errant attendee badly dressed as her favorite Anime character or brushing off inquiries from a group of haggard pre-teens as to where the "free" stuff is.
