Voice Description

The majority of my experience has been in Audio books. I have become a specialist incorporating "Character" within the read ('on the fly'). As an erstwhile actor My comic and dramatic timing is a particular asset. Part of my portfolio is a series of tributes to English and South African actors, playwrights and comics. My normal range is conventional baritone extending into effect and mike timbre.

My Voice Experience

From a deep love of reading and some acting ability I graduated to commercial radio where I frequently vocalised several different characters within a single production. i have spent over 20 years reading for the partially sighted and honed a lot of techniques during this period. My passion is for character voices and my sight reading is abnormally acute, as well as my technical capacity.

My Training

Typical Post war British education focussed on technical subjects , most of my working life has been involved in power generation with a major focus on interpreting information for those whose grasp of engineering fundamentals was lacking (I addressed this by providing drawings and interpretive charting) as well as educational presentations, to groups of all sizes and levels.

My Studio Equipment

I use Vaio i5 laptop with MAudio/Behringer hardware, sony audio studio/audacity Software. Depending on requirements I can Incorporate Lead-in/Out and/or background, mostly I use royalty-free sound. All popular formats are available as final downloads although I will normally use lossless .wav up to final mix.

Additional Skills

My technical background has made me somewhat of a perfectionist so the end results are of very high quality despite the modesty of the equipment. Being non-union my rating structure is highly affordable, it should be noted that our local time is some 8 hours in front of eastern seaboard time which can be an advantage.
