Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
The only dialect I am currently skilled at is my native mid-western. Although I can speak with a Texan drawl, or a street-urchin-english accent, it would be unconvincing to anyone with a trained ear, or from the region.
My characterizations are mostly cartoon-like exaggerations such as an old, wheezing man, a "latin lover," an overbearing Drill Sargent, a maniacal mad scientist, a talking squirrel, and near-realistic animal sounds including (in order of how convincing) chicken, cat, kitten, small yapping dog, crow or raven, songbird, goat, turtle (just kidding about the turtle).
I also have a few characterizations from stage acting: A frazzled, strict IRS agent, a raspy preacher-like raven, a worrisome hen (clucking and all), and a boisterous farmer.
I can impersonate Yoda, Kermit the frog, big bird, and Ralph from the Simpsons.
I can also "beat-box" with melody and a few 'effect' sounds.
My Voice Experience
I am just starting out my voice over career, and am willing to try just about anything. I have done little more than experiment and record possible cartoon character concepts.
My Training
I have two years of applied voice lessons toward a music major that has certainly expanded my range of tone and pitch. Also, while pursuing this major, I have a basic understanding of music composition and theory, and a well-trained and critical ear. I have written and recorded various genres of music over the years. I have acted in two plays under an extremely demanding director who required nothing less than professionalism.
My Studio Equipment
For the moment, I have access to a small studio with Pro Tools, and two mid-grade condenser mics, one with a bright tone, the other with a deep tone. My producer is trained in Pro Tools based recording and production.
