Voice Description
Much of my voice work is of a narrative nature for public announcements or 'corporate' pieces. and therefore authoritative but warm. I can perform 'soft sell' for 'relaxing' items - eg holidays, 'character' for comic commercials and also a variety of characters for talking books, both books for adults and the more 'wacky' characterisation for childrens books. I also do 'straight' reads for factual items such as instructional or training videos etc.

My Voice Experience
I got into voice work by accident. I was appearing in a show and someone was needed to do some narrative in between some musical pieces. The person doing it was our Cast Manager - a very good opera singer who hated standing up as 'himself'. By chance he heard my ansaphone message and thought I'd be ideal. Having got the job, the rest of the cast were so enthusiatic about my efforts they suggested I had a go at voiceovers and the rest is history. That was over 10 years ago, and I still work for the same company now, having recorded all their public announcements. Since then I have worked on such a variety of projects - dubbing on 'The Winslow Boy (film) being directed by David Mamet, being someone's alter ego - their innner thoughts, to various corporate jobs, educational titles and latterly talking books. I also coach actors for public speaking diplomas and am vocal coach to the Thursford Christmas Shows, the largest Christmas show in England.
My Training
Trained actor/singer.
Courses at 'The Actors Centre' in London with vocal coach Bernard Shaw.
My vocal training as a singer was based on exercises for actors, which is absolutely beneficial in working with the spoken word.
My Studio Equipment
MIC: audio-technica 4033A/SM recording onto cakewalk UA-25 EX 24bit/96hz audio interface.
Voice files can be sent in .WAV or compressed to mp3 and emailed direct.
For large files I use 'Dropbox' where clients are able to access files directly via a secure folder.
Where ISDN facilities are required I have easy access (10 mins) to a local studio. The studio runs 8core MacPro paired with Digidesigns Protools HD3 system. Neumann mics as standard.
Additional Skills
I am a trained actor (and singer) and as such have a wide knowledge of voice, words, syntax and how to sight-read well, hitting the correct stresses as required. I have worked in theatre performing most styles of drama from Shakespeare to 'modern' pieces. I am a character actor able to create interesting 'character' voices.
I also teach voice, public speaking and audition technique which means my approach to voice and the spoken word is up to date. I have also coached live performance of 'set' pieces being appointed vocal coach to the 'Thursford Christmas Spectacular' the largest Christmas show in England.
