Voice Description
The English of the US Midwest is my native language. My early adult life was spent in South Carolina and Norfolk, where I learned to appreciate regionalisms and accent. During this time I travelled to North and West Africa where I used my high school and college French. I then travelled to Brazil where I began many years of self study in Portuguese; I am now proficient with (according to Brazilians) a slight Danish or Argentine accent.

My Voice Experience
I have been a professional instrumental musician since my early teens, and I have sung semi-professionally in choirs, and sung backup on stage. I have done every aspect of radio since my late teens: audio engineering, broadcast engineering, arranging, editing, soundtrack engineering, narration, spots, PSAs, promos, script writing, snd voiceover. I have narrated in large stadiums and auditoriums, and I have announced football games. I have announced to heads of state and ambassadors on hundreds of occasions in dozens of countries (US Navy). I have used my voice to great effect as a teacher. I have been an interpreter of Portuguese for high-tech sports video crews. I currently work regularly as an over-the-phone interviewer.
My Training
My college years were spent as a part-time trombone major, part time radio engineer (and on-air talent), part-time performing trombonist, and part-time computer professional. After college I was a trombonist in the Navy, where I was also an announcer for concert, rock band and dance band presentations. I then became the soundtrack engineer for the Atlantic Fleet Audio-Visual Command, arranging and editing soundtracks, and often providing narration, titles, and other voiceover. Later, I performed engineering and substitute reader tasks for Radio Reading Services. I have taught 1st grade thru 8th grade music, advanced music privately, math and computer programming at the high school and junior college level, and radio engineering and on-air basics at the college and professional level.
