Voice Description

I have a very deep North American male voice. I can lighten it, or deepen it as needed. I have been told my voice has the same quality as the guy on Allstate's TV spots, :That's where Allstate stands." Or James Earl Jones. I am American born, however, I lived in Germany for 6 1/2 years, and can speak conversational German, Hoch Deutsch accented because I learned from native Germans and not an American teacher. I have NO American accent when speaking German.
I can not do "silly" animated voices. My voice is best suited for "serious" content only.

My Voice Experience

I am a novice in voice work. However I have 29 years Army experience and therefore have extensive experience giving oral presentations. I currently work as a Flight Attendant, and have gleaned a lot of experience "script reading" for a live audience. I actually found out about this career from a passenger that told me she does this for a living and that I have an amazing voice and should give this a shot. I do get told at least once weekly that I should be doing voice over work professionally.

My Training

Wow. I have to dig deep to find actual voice over experience.
When I was in grade school, some 30 years ago, I did a local radio commerical for SCUFFY (Shelby County United Fund For Youth.) I was picked from all grade school students based on reading ability, lack of shyness, and voice quality. This was in Shelby County Indiana, circa 1972-ish when I was 12 years old.

I placed 1st division, Solo, in the Indiana State Vocal Competition in 1973-74 as a baritone at age 13.

Other than that, I do in-flight airline announcements on a daily basis.
