Voice Description

A warm familiar voice that is a little bit deep and clear. Smooth and articulate, or a little bit edgy. Intelligent sounding voice, excellent for documentaries and narratives. Can do a number of characters from straight to serious rural to country hick. I am an excellent singer with a good range, and a quick study for various styles.

My Voice Experience

My primary experience (30 years) has been as a songwriter and performer, but I have worked in all areas on the enterainment industry throughout my career. During the last several years I have had great success on the national folk music scene. I have performed on several national festivals including, Kerrville, TX, Rock Folk Fest, CO, Philadelphia Folk Fest., PA, Kate Wolf Fest., CA.
Most recently I have released 2 nationally distributed CD recordings of Woody Guthrie songs, including 5 previously unpublished Woody Guthrie lyrics from the Woody Guthrie Archives, given to me by Nora Guthrie for me to compose the music. I have a ProTools HD1 (96x24)studio on my property, and I have excellent production and engineering skills. Previous to the the Guthrie projects I released 3 albums of original material. My recordings are currently distributed by Koch and ADA on Inside Recordings, an independent label owned by Jackson Browne and his management team. I have done narrative voice overs for Triple O Productions on a John Trudell Documentary. Speaking and acting are part of my everyday job as I incorporate talking and acting into my performances. Also, my extensive studio experience makes me an excellent candidate for your voice over project.

My Training

My training has been hands on. I worked on student radio stations in both high school and college. Out of school I began singing professionally. When Jazzercise was just starting out I did all of the audio recording and technical advance work for Judy Shephard Missett including the writing recording and performing of 2 televison commercials. I worked in the public relations department of the San Diego Wild Animal Park for ten years (1981-91) and did numerous voice overs and stand-ups for news coverage of events at the Park. While there I worked with the Phillips-Ramsey Co. on a number of commercials and PSA's, and audio kiosk displays.
