My Voice Experience

It all started when I was a child. My voice landed me in the principals office often. It wasn't foul, just distracting. After entertaining the principal (a nun) she would tell me to cut it out, but I knew she couldn't wait for the next show.

Unlike school, the military didn't joke as well. I talked my way into cleaning the barracks on many weekends.

Years later I've narrated (and acted) in many Christmas, Easter and other plays at church. An annual haunted house is my personal favorite. I teach in a Children's Church and bring several characters to life for them.

I have done television commercials (B&L Carpet) as the bumbling character "Spud", representing the competition for a local carpet store.

I have produced one radio promotion, as a British character, for a school's (Liberty Traditional School) silent auction.

My Training

Not having pursued a voice over career and not even knowing there was such a thing, my training has been catch-as-catch-can. That is until I attended a couple of training classes at the Commercial Clinic in San Diego hosted by James Alburger and Penny Abshire. I am looking forward to attending future workshops with them.

Additional Skills

I have been with my present job for twenty-five years. I can, I want to and I will retire from that in '08. A new career in voice over work will ensure it. I think it's what I've wanted to do all along.
