My Voice Experience

My high school art teacher really has a lot to answer for, including my reason for writing this. In an end of year report, she once said 'Joanne talks so much, she could take her place on Hyde Park Corner'. I don't think she intended it as a compliment, but she was right! I didn't make it to Hyde Park Corner, but my voice has been heard in the UK and now in my adoptive home of the United States since 1997 , through my work as a broadcaster with the BBC (various BBC local radio stations, BBC World Service and BBC Radio 5 Live). For many years, listeners heard me read the news, voice documentaries and front program specials from the Caribbean and Africa. My voice has been used for many a promotional trailer, and on the BBC series 'If'.

Since moving to the United States in 2007, I have provided voice services for corporate voicemail systems (for companies wishing to give an international flavor down the 'phone line), corporate training videos for seafarers (would you know what to do if you came face to face with a pirate? After 10 hours of recording the voiceover for MUSE, I know more than I thought I ever would), commercials and documentary narration for the Pacifica Radio Archives 'Obama' and '1968' specials.
