Voice Description

Having had several years of voice lessons, I am confident in my abilities to use my broad range and voice "coloring" techniques to present a sound that is appropriate for any project. In story/book readings, I develop a sound for each character that fits his or her role in the story. For commercials I am a sympathetic, helpful neighbor. I present an informative, confident, engaging voice in presentations. I am quite versatile for commercials, and can be flirtatious, skeptical, youthful, motherly, intimate, and funny. I am especially capable of reading/pronouncing medical/legal terminology, as well as foreign words and phrases. While I am fluent only in English, I can effectively read/speak Spanish, German, Russian, and Italian.

My Voice Experience

I am just starting my career in voice over, but I have several years of experience in singing and recording music as a soloist and as a background singer. My rich, creamy singing voice translates well into my speaking voice, and I have a great variety of inflection, tone, and character because of my singing. My very first professional recording was done in Atlanta, Georgia, where I was the background vocalist for a variety rap album. Part of my job was to listen to the song and come up with a hook/background vocals in about 10 minutes. Each track I recorded was recorded a maximum of two times, but most tracks were one take only. I am currently being pursued by a composer to premiere classical/liturgical pieces as a soprano soloist.

My Training

While I have no formal training specifically pertaining to voice overs, I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance/Opera. I have been studying music for fifteen years, and have taken voice lessons since 2000. Because I am continually striving to enhance my education and experiences, I am looking for any voice over educational experiences available.

I sing in a variety of genres, including opera/classical, Broadway/musical theatre, pop, jazz/blues/standards, and praise/Christian. I am an excellent writer and editor, and can help rephrase/resolve grammar and syntax issues within scripts. I take direction well, and I am not afraid to "go out on a limb" and try new things. My daughter (age 4) is also available to interact with me on a project, if needed.
