My vocal range covers a variety of voices: Smooth, deep "late night" radio announcer; booming "infomercial" man; proper English gentleman; Cockney dock worker; geriatric mental patient; hilarious hillbilly; nasally nerd; gravelly, hard-travelled drunkard or junkie a la Tom Waits, William Burroughs, Hunter S. Thompson; and many "cartoonish" voices-- "Gobo" from Fraggle Rock, most of the Jim Henson voiced Muppets (Kermit the Frog, Ernie, etc.), Jack Skellington from "The Nightmare Before Christmas," and Gumby and Pokey.

My Voice Experience

I read a lot. I read aloud a lot. If I'm studying a textbook for school, I'll read it aloud using a presentation/academia style voice. If I'm reading something written by William Burroughs or Hunter Thompson, I'll read aloud in the voice of the author or voice of the characters being portrayed. I pay more attention to the text in front of me and absorb more of what I'm reading when I do so.
When playing with my daughter, I am many different characters depending on what we're playing--Wallace&Gromit, Fraggle Rock, The Muppets, Nightmare Before Christmas, Mary Poppins. My voice lends itself to a variety of male characters. My "female" voice tends to sound much like those screeching men in women's clothing on Monty Python skits.

Working for Amazon, I did some training for them wherein I would call different customer service agents using fake names, accents, voices etc and improvise my way through the call, making it as difficult as possible for the Agent on the other end to satisfy my insatiable, customer-service needs.

My Training

I'm currently enrolled at Marshall University pursuing a BA in Business Marketing with a minor in Electronic Communications (radio & tv filming, editing and broadcasting). I've taken public speaking classes, technical report writing and research composition as part of my current studies.

I have a home studio where I compose and record music (including my own vocals), video to accompany said music and, most recently, stop-motion animation. I am familiar with a variety of sound/video applications and knowledge of different mic'ing techniques.
