Voice Description

My voice is ideally suited to narrations. It is easy to listen to and sounds upscale. It can also be low and breathy for a more sexy sound. I lector at church and am accustomed to reading for large groups of people. Born in Minnesota, my native language is English; however, I also speak Mandarin Chinese fluently, with a Beijing accent.

My Voice Experience

For years I have told people that I was going to be a cartoon voice "when I grow up." I have been involved in all aspects of theatre and performance since the age of two. I always did community theatre as a child and took voice lessons (speaking and singing)over the course of ten years. In high school I participated in drama and speech and won the 1991 MN State high school class A speech contest in Creative Expression.
In college I played Boo in Craig Lucas' Blue Window and sang in the Lawrence University Downer Women's Chorus. Since college, I have been a lector at St. Olaf Catholic Church in downtown Minneapolis and have read many times on their TV broadcast. I also sing in St. Olaf's parish choir.

Additional Skills

I am not shy about public speaking. I have always cherished my church ministry reading the Sunday scriptures for the congregation and singing in the choir. I have often thought about recording bible verses or the Bible itself if the opportunity arose.
I have spent many hours reading to my nieces and enjoy interpreting favorites from Pippi Longstocking to Harry Potter in my own voice characterizations.
