Voice Description
Warm, real and engaging with whatever energy level is needed on message-driven announcer reads.
Soft, deep and clear on documentary/narration reads.
Easy, natural and conversational on IVR and e-learning presentations.
The voice I do better than any other, though, is myself. Most of my clients hire me to be me. Or some semblance thereof.

My Training
Started out in radio (who didn't?) but quickly realized that delivering messages and telling stories was more my forte.
Took over a defunct recording studio. Built the business back up. Added radio creative and production services. Became a national star in the creative radio advertising field.
Moved the biz to the Pacific Northwest (Seattle).
Shifted focus to voice over in the mid-90's so I could move to an island, work from home and be there while my kids grew up.
Haven't looked back since.
My Studio Equipment
Home studio with:
Sennheiser 416 and MXL VO:1-A microphones
Pro Tools editing
Prima LT ISDN
Joe Meek pre-amp/compressor
Analog phone patch
Digital coffee maker
Additional Skills
Before placing my focus on voiceover in the mid-90's, I wrote and produced over 12,000 radio and television commercials for clients across the country (mostly humor-oriented). I still write when asked, but have not actively sought this work since making the switch to going BEHIND the microphone.
I know and have worked with some of the best sound designers in the nation (full disclosure: I am NOT one of them) and happily connect these audio wizards to my clients who seek great production talent.
I'm a storyteller and write and produce a story-based podcast called Hoytus Interruptus (search "hoytus" in the iTunes Music Store).
I'm also Head Writer and one of the ensemble players in a kind of Prairie Home Companion-esque variety show here on Vashon Island called "Church of Great Rain."
