I am a professional musician. And have been in this field for 30+ years. So my voice work has been singing and speaking in front of large groups of people and doing the occasional radio station ID. That was years ago.
Due to physical limitations and realizing that I can not work in my field like I would like, but I still have my voice, I am pursuing Voice Overs aggressively and have been met some wonderful coaches like Susan Berkley (the voice of Citibank/At&T..Etc and Adriana Davis) The have me reading and recording a bucket full of scripts every week for the past few months and I am loving it. They see me having no problem finding work. It's been wonderful. and I attended the Great Voice Company Workshop in New York this past from April 4-6, 2014. I have also listened in on a few podcast workshops online.
I earned my BA by majoring in Music Voice and Piano performance(I double majored in business as well) and in 1985. I taught voice and piano for many years. Been a music director at a few big churches in New Jersey directing adult choirs, childrens choirs, youth bands and writing and arranging the music. Working with John Talbot on his 2006 tour. I also perform regularly in the virtual world of Second Life from my full home studio since 2007. I have since expanded to other worlds that have popped of over the years.
I have a MXL 4000 condensor Mic, I just bought a Yeti Pro (which I Love), and I have a Sennheiser e950, and Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire a symetrix compressor, A Dell Inspiron 1505 (circa 2006) but it has my nuendo on it (THE best recording software in the land!) So I will never get rid of it. And I have an HP desktop that I loaded Audacity on for VoiceOvers.. (and I use the Yeti Pro)and I Have to tell ya.. I am not hating it. It is taking some getting used to but I am making my way around it. I see nothing wrong with it for voice over work. It gives a nice clean crisp take.
I am not new to this business. It is just a natural transition for me. I am now in a wheelchair, but I can still act. I still have a wonderful voice that I want to share and use.
