Voice Description

The first quality that people notice about my voice is how confident it is. It is loud enough to be heard not matter the size of the room or venue, but it is not overly loud or brusque. It can be rigidly formal, some might even say uptight, or it can be relaxed, reassuring, and welcoming. I can be persuasive for commercials and sales pitches, warm and inviting for narrations, upbeat for telephone messages and recordings, and even transformed with an accent to fit particular roles or characters. My voice is crisp and clear with careful, but confident diction to get the message across clearly.

My Voice Experience

Experience on the stage in high school and college has given me the opportunity to perform in a variety of roles. From cold, calculating villain, to frantic bumbling wimp I have been trained to match my voice to the character or message being performed. I can put on accents as easily as my coat from formal English, to folksy Irish, regional US accents, and of course, standard broadcast English. Working in sales has also enabled me to polish smooth presentations, and provide a warm, welcoming, and reassuring feeling to my audience. Finally, my current position with a computer firm has given me the chance to expand my teaching experience, training people to use their new computers, and encourage them as they develop new skills. I have also recorded voicemail greetings for friends, family, and co-workers.

Additional Skills

In my current position with a major technology company, I make sales presentations, lead informational workshops for customers, teach one on one, and answer the telephone for call routing, information, and technical assistance. I have extensive knowledge of computers, both Mac and PC, am familiar with cars of foreign and domestic origin, and keep up with news, politics, and world events. My degree was in history and political science.
