My Voice Experience

A 'Professional Mouth', Jason Michas has voiced leading and principle roles for some of TV’s most popular animation productions including BRATZ, LITTLE TIKES, POWERPUFF GIRLS Z, JOJO’s CIRCUS, CYBER CHASE, BIONICLE, SABRINA, BUCKY O’HARE and most notably, as the role of ZAK in the Emmy Nominated children's cartoon DRAGON TALES (Columbia Tristar) for which Michas received an Annie Nomination (Outstanding Performance By A Male In An Animated Series). During this time he has also lent his talents as the promotional voice for Razer TV on MTV2 and to thousands of national and regional radio ads, video games, documentaries, ADR Sessions and other voice-over projects.

My Training

Michas cut his teeth “in the field” as a film and TV actor at the very get go of Hollywood North's (Vancouver, BC) burgeoning film industry in the early 80's. Acting in leading roles along side the likes of Kirk Douglas, Johnny Depp and Jim Varney in productions for companies like Disney, Cannell films and the CBC, Michas quickly established his reputation as one of Vancouver’s leading professional actors.

Additional Skills

Michas has been an active and celebrated participant in the West Coast and Canadian Music scene as a singer and composer since the early 90's. He has received critical acclaim for several recordings of his own material and his collaborations with others in the Canadian music scene. The UK's Guardian called Michas' rendition of Nick Drakes's song, Three hours, "..a stunning version" for his cut on Poor Boy - Songs of Nick Drake. All Music compared Jason to Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughn and New York's Down Town Music Gallery called Michas' voice, "..haunting".

For his own break out album, 'Ode to a Dead Bird' the Georgia Straight felt Michas came across, "less as typical singer-songwriter than as a poet who happens to possess a lovely expressive voice". He has also had songs on MP3.COM which topped at number 1 rating above the Rolling Stones and the Eagles.

In 2001 Michas received a West Coast Music nomination for Producer of the Year for his production work on Ode to A Dead Bird. He received his Diploma in Classical Voice in 2000 at Vancouver Community College. You can also hear Michas sing on the soundtrack for the up coming movie, "The Steam Experiment" starring Val Kilmer.
