Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Confused, grumpy old man. Over-the-top excited young female. Don Pardo announcer type. Big, station imaging voice. Russian accent, British accent, northern Minnesota or "Yooper" accent, southern drawl, laid back down home delivery. Guy next door. I am also capable of developing characters or celebrity impersonations. Bill Clinton, Regis Philbin, Sly Stallone, etc.

My Voice Experience

My smooth, friendly delivery at Lunds grocery store telling customers on the in-store intercom that the store was closing in 10 minutes landed me an internship at KQRS FM in Minneapolis in 1993.

Acting like a confused old man on the phone who needed help with an enema made "The Best of the KQRS Morning Show" CD in 1994

My laid back, smooth "guy next door" delivery landed me a full-time producer/on-air position at KQRS FM in Minneapolis in 1994.

My imaging skills we put to use in starting up 2 rock stations in Minneapolis. Pure Rock X105 and Pure Rock 93X.

My ability to deliver news, create characters, be relevant and accessible to listeners, cater to clients and be professional landed me the morning job at KQDS FM in 1996. I am still there today. (They'll have to carry me out of here feet first!)

My deep, authoritative delivery was noticed by the president of Red River Broadcasting in Fargo, ND. He liked it so much that he asked me to be the voice of KVRR FOX News in Fargo and KQDS FOX 21 News in Duluth.

My Training

High School graduate from St. Croix Central in Hammond, Wisconsin.

Associated Degree in Radio/TV Broadcasting from Brown College in Minneapolis, MN. Graduated with honors.

I have worked in the radio industry and have done freelance voice work since 1994.

My Studio Equipment

Harris Impulse Console, Electrovoice RE-27 mics, Symetrix 528 E voice processor. This is all I really know. (We have multiple studios loaded with expensive equipment!)

Additional Skills

I am the host of a morning talk show which has been #1 in the market for 13 years and is syndicated throughout Northern Minnesota, Northwestern Wisconsin and the Michigan U.P. I am constantly using my voice to deliver different types of copy in various styles either live or in a recording situation. I also use my voice to create characters and to bring life to the stories I read. I also have produced imaging for radio stations in both major markets and small markets.

My job requires me to work with clients on a one on one basis every day. I have a great working relationship with each and every one of them whether I'm voicing a spot or acting as their producer/engineer.
