My Voice Experience
Entertain and engage the audience is what I love to do. My voice is my primary tool, and I have used it to successfully in a variety of situations. I've led walking tours for tourists, bus tours for teenagers, told stories about teaching ESL in Japan and working with the military in Afghanistan. I've done stand-up, improv and sketch comedy, creating countless characters over 10+ years on stages around Toronto.
My Training
I have a bachelor of arts in cultural anthropology and have been acting since high school. I've taken many acting and improv workshops with the Bad Dog Theatre Company in Toronto, and have been teaching public speaking to tour guides for more than 5 years.
My Studio Equipment
I do not have my own studio equipment but have access to a professional studio and experienced engineer - www.voodoohighwaymusic.com
Additional Skills
I have been a tour guide for 13+ years and have taught public speaking to guides for 5+ years now. I consider myself to be a storyteller.
I am an experienced world traveler, which has helped me with accents and dialects.
I have taught ESL in Japan and have been complimented many times by students on my speaking clarity, pronounciation and annunciation. I am familiar with Japanese customs and have a basic vocabulary. I speak English with a Japanese accent well enough to surprise Japanese listeners.
My French is basic, but what little I use is spoken with a French pronounciation and accent is good enough to lead people to believe I am fluent in the language.
I spent 6 months in Afghanistan working with the Canadian military as a civilian travel coordinator. I am versed in military culture and terminology and the mannerisms and nuances of how soldiers communicate in the field and in casual settings.
I spent 7 months living in the Canadian Rockies and am familiar with the slang prevalent in snowboard culture.
