My Voice Experience

I have never had a voice over job, but I have been involed in many singing groups in college and beyond. I have done personal voice recordings in studios in college, and I have plenty of experience in dealing with recording and mixing of voices.

My Training

While in college, I have studied vocal performance (primarilly classical), vocal music education, musical theatre, and recording technology. I also have experience in singing in mixed and all male groups from solo works up through groups of 150 or more. These groups have ranged in style from operatic chorus to musical theatre to pop a cappella to tribal. With recording, I have experience recording voice overs for personal projects as well as recording bands and mixing/producing these recordings.

My Studio Equipment

I am in the process of slowly building a personal recording studio in my home. I own a small mixer with a preamp built-in, both condenser (with phantom power and shockmount and pop filter) and dynamic mics, a vocal effects pedal, and all the cables to hook everything together. I currently have a USB hookup from the mixer to my laptop computer to record and I can only use Audacity until I can purchase ProTools. My speaker output simply runs through a stereo receiver to old stereo speakers as the only output on my laptop is the stereo headphone jack. Through classes in college, I have much experience with both ProTools and Logic Studios, but I prefer PorTools for recording. I have used microphones of all types and brands as well as other mixers and preamps. I also know about mic placement and all of the different features with microphones and EQ (dB Pads, filters, etc).

Additional Skills

I am a trained singer and would do best in a singing job. I have the most experience with singing, but I am obviously willing to take on spoken roles as well. I have experience in public speaking and I am very down to earth and calm in these situations. I have a lot of performance experience for audiences of one to many thousand and I know how to deal with the nerves of performing. I have performed in many musical theatre as well as spoken theatre roles, so I have experience with playing character roles.
