Voice Description

Generally my voice is a low, warm one. When speaking casually, sometimes it is too low. But I am an affluent reader who knows about voice projection and manipulation of tone. I can give an angry bark and an enchanting whisper, in the same sentence if need be. I give my attention to spacing and pauses between words, according to the specifications of the task. Clarity is not an issue, nor is shakiness.

My Voice Experience

I have been a poet for several years and have always practiced dictating poetry. I take great pride in such an honorary act, and therefore have become a solid, reliable narrator. I have never been paid for my public readings--and would not expect to be--but I have indeed had extensive experience speaking aloud. The only recording experience I have has come on my own computer, though I am familiar with studio technology.

My Training

I suppose practicing on my own accord has been my training, combined with my time in high school and college. I studied English at SUNY Albany for two years, where I had most of my public poetry readings in classrooms, dorm rooms, and at other campus functions. Aside from poetry, I have been co-writing a few film projects in Hollywood, as well as working with an up-and-coming rock band. For the most part though, my knowledge of the English language and the human condition have been most beneficial in building my narrative confidence.

I feel very strongly about the freedoms involved in any work of Art. I am always looking to collaborate and bounce ideas off another state of mind. My own stance is almost Avant-Garde but I am ready and willing to work with even the most conservative Artist if (s)he has the right idea and vision.
