Voice Description

I have been a middle school teacher for many years. I have always been able to captivate any age group with my voice. I have been the half-time voice for my district's High School Band for the past three years and have consistently had local sports announcers ask in awe, "Who are you?" I have also served as a lector for my church for the past four years and almost every time I lector have partitioners say they could listen to me for hours and wish I could read every week. I have been told I have a very soothing and melodic voice. I can be very warm and gentle for narrations, professional and articulate for presentations or announcements, very melodic and alluring for commercials, and very sincere. I emote when I read. I convey sincerity and passion.

My Voice Experience

With each passing year, each obstacle, each triumph, each personal growth experience, I become more attractive to others. I have often been told that people are attracted to me like a moth to a flame. I can always captivate any student or group when I speak. As a middle school teacher in the Hardin-Jefferson School District in Sour Lake, Texas, I have many opportunities to use my speaking abilities to reach, teach, and captivate my students. I have been the half-time voice of "The Big Blue Machine", our High School Band since 2005/2006. Whenever I make our half-time announcements at an away game, the local sports announcer always looks at me and asks, "Who are you?; How long have you been doing this?" When I read scripture at mass I stir the hearts of partitioners and am consistently told that they love to hear me read and wish I would read every week. I have the ability to pick up almost any book, script, article, narrative, or scripture and read almost flawlessly. I am articulate, enunciate well and emote when I speak. Listeners can feel my passion, enthusiasm and sincerity and I always leave listeners wanting more. I have realized this is a gift and one of my greatest assets. I would like to impact others in a positive way with this gift. It is second nature to me.

My Training

I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Radio, Film and Television in 1985 from Lamar University in Beaumont Texas. I received a second Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Reading in 1988 from Lamar University in Beaumont Texas. I acted in several college productions. My father, Dr.S. Walker James, directed greats such as Barry Corbin from "Northern Exposure" during his directing career. He was Director of Theater at Lamar University for 25 years and I grew up attending every rehearsal I possibly could. Although I never pursued it as a career, acting comes naturally to me as well as reading and public speaking.

My Studio Equipment

I do not have a studio, however I live in Beaumont Texas which is 90 miles east of Houston Texas and a 5 1/2 hour drive from Dallas Texas.

Additional Skills

I am articulate, talented, and genuine. I have been a public school teacher for over 10 years in the states of Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. I am also a published author and talented public speaker. However, I have not launched my career in either, thus, I am an unknown talent. I display the utmost integrity and professionalism in any project I engage in.
