My Voice Experience

Advertising major who studied radio/tv broadcast. Various radio commercials for agriculture-based advertising in Ardmore, OK. Directed and helped produce radio/tv commercials for auto dealerships for 11 years. Voice-overs included various "theme-based" voices such as witch for Halloween, cowgirl for Western-based voice, smooth-sexy for an upper-scale sound.

My Training

Bachelors of Arts in Journalism (Advertising) from the University of Oklahoma (1983). Studied piano for 12 years, keyboards and vocals (alto) in pop band for 4 years, voice-over for radio commercials for 8 years. Marketing/Advertising Director for Ford, Hyundai dealerships in Southwest Oklahoma. Very articulate in budgets, target audience, creative direction and economy impact on product, special events and promotions. Directed and helped produce radio and tv spots for auto dealerships since 1997. Wrote 30-second music bed for franchise theme music Liquid Metal.

Additional Skills

Understanding the necesseties of different voice pitches and sounds to meet the goals and direction of the advertiser to meet the target audience. A big, boomy voice is not always the right match for every product. Understanding that on radio, you have to be able to invision the person or product that you are hearing. Your voice is a "pictureless" billboard.
