Voice Description

I can use the lower registers for more serious, newscaster requirements; mid-range tones to sound like a young adult or bouncy and "Valley-Girlish" like a ingenue teen. I can do dialects such as Irish, British and Deep South (US). As a mom of three, I am familiar with (and sometimes use in real life!) the "hassled and harried mom" voice, and can also sound sexy and do silly voices for cartoons or commercials with a fast-talking or manic effect.

My Voice Experience

I have recorded my voice for public presentation on nearly a daily basis for the past 10 years, on my recorded telephone hotline, Twin Cities InfoLine. The hotline offers about 10 various categories, including daily weather, jokes, horoscopes, children's story book, restaurants. I use a newscaster voice for the weather category , dialects and fun voices for the joke category, sister-to-sister confidential voice for horoscopes, and bouncy excited voice for paid advertisements. The hotline is available 24/7 by dialing 612-379-CALL (2255), and an automated menu will announce available categories to listen to.

My Training

I took a 5-week Voice Acting extension course from Larry Russo, where we focused on breaking down text into its component parts and then making it come to life and "own" it.

I hired a radio personality and another voice talent actor for one-on-one coaching and technical tips about recording and making a living using one's voice.

I took two public speaking courses while in college, one a college course for degree credit, and the other one a community education class.
