My Voice Experience

JANELLEN STEININGER - Voice Over Bio

Janellen Steininger began her extensive voiceover career as the radio spokesperson for Chagrin Valley Theatre in Ohio, doing several public service promos for them. Since then, she has also done industrial voice over work for S.R.A. Corporation, I.B.M., and for Disney’s Epcot Center among many other clients.

Janellen’s audio recording of the book THE GIRL IN HYACINTH BLUE by Susan Vreeland (Highbridge Audio)followed the book onto the Amazon best seller charts. Other recordings include FAIRY TALES for Ziggurat Productions, doing all of the female narration and character voices, and for the pilot for the animated series, COYOTE TALES, performing a variety of character voices from children to adults to animals. Most recently, Janellen recorded the voices for the CD Rom Interactive of MACHINA, voicing both a warrior princess and a four year old boy.

For the Wells Fargo Radio Theatre’s live recording of PROSPECT OF GLORY, Janellen performed two principle characters as well as the closing commercial, and for Los Angeles Theaterworks national broadcast of A TALE OF CHARLES DICKENS. Janellen has just completed recording the German narration for “WALKING WITH BUDDHA, for Ngong Ping 360, a Buddhist Cultural Center, opening outside of Hong Kong. She also performed various voices on the soon to be released AVATAR CDRom.

Janellen performs ADR for both feature films and television; most recently providing German dialogue for JAKE 2.0, voice matching Ellen Barkin in WILD BILL, and voice matching additional dialogue in SHALL WE DANCE. She has also voice-matched Ellen Barkin in MAD DOG TIME, Robin Wright-Penn in WHITE OLEANDER, and Charlize Theron in SWEET NOVEMBER.

Janellen has looped RUSH HOUR II, SWORDFISH, PAVILION OF WOMEN, and THE GREAT RAID, as well as other independent films in which she has also appeared in on-camera roles.

Having lived as an exchange student in Germany, Janellen is fluent in German, and translates German texts for theatre, opera and film. She also speaks conversational French. Janellen is adept at a variety of British Isle dialects, European, and regional American dialects as well.

Janellen is also an accomplished singer with a wide range in a variety of styles including Standards, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Classic, and has performed in live solo concerts as well as in the studio.
